Recently, 5 years later these men met each other again while attending an evening lecture about commercial real estate. They were still very much alike. Both were happily married, both had started to build a nest egg for their future. And both, it turned out, had sold their first commercial real estate properties using the techniques they discovered when they went through their companies training program. But there was a difference... One of the men, though he had the best intentions, had left the commercial real estate business while at the same time the other had created a portfolio of 17 exclusive clients he worked with and a business that paid him a high 6-figure income. What made the difference? Well, as it turns out it was only a very subtle step the one man took that the other man didn’t. Have you ever wondered, as I have, what makes this kind of difference in people’s lives? It isn’t always intelligence, or talent, or dedication, or passion. It isn’t that one person wants success and the other doesn’t. The difference lies in what information each person knows and how they obtain that knowledge and how he or she makes use of that knowledge. That's why I am writing to you about the International Association of Commercial Real Estate Professionals and how a simple step can make such a huge difference in your life. Then, I’ll describe the big picture of our future together as an association. Please be patient and read all of this thoroughly. It is a huge step forward for this business we’re all a part of! In addition to me, my staff and my elite outside network of experts, the Association will have a board of advisors made up of leading, innovative commercial real estate professionals. The associations CEO and founder is me, Cindy Spivack, and you undoubtedly know me by now. But in case you don’t, I have been involved in this profession since 1979 (I can hardly believe it myself). I got my first job in the business working as a college intern at a prominent Dallas commercial real estate firm while a business student at SMU and have worked exclusively in the field ever since! My first real job after graduation consisted of being given a desk, phone, yellow page phone directory and being told, “get to work!” Not knowing any differently, I did. Obviously I did a few good things my first year, I survived. But a bit of support and education along the way might have sped things up for me and my pocketbook. Needless to say, I fell in love with the business and all of these years later I am still excited to wake up in the morning and go to work – I count myself among the lucky few. I also acquired a few smarts along the way and realized it takes a TEAM to grow a business, therefore I have always been one to surround myself with intelligent, thoughtful advisors, many of whom are involved with me in this project today. I learned a long time ago there are many folks smarter then me and if I can’t beat them, invite them to join me – it just makes life easier. Successful commercial real brokers, agents, developers, lenders, and even architects and contractor’s need to turn somewhere for the critical insights on the business side of running a successful commercial real estate business. This information gap can only be filled by creating of a full-scale trade association for the entire commercial real estate industry – can you imagine the power? But let’s not talk about me anymore – But I promised to tell you about our future as an Association. The entire purpose is to get knowledge, make connections, access resources and grow your business. We’re just beginning and there’s no where to go but up! We're the only association dedicated to increasing your income.
